What Responsive Design Truly Is

When we read Responsive Design articles, most of them deals with the technical aspect of its implementation. What really is Responsive Design ?

Emily Lewis, in her Web Appers article, discussed methods she used on two websites she worked on that uses responsive design principles. In summary, she has found that:

Responsive design isn’t fluid grids. Responsive design isn’t media queries. Responsive Web design is a mindset, a workflow, a big picture concept that can’t (and shouldn’t) be compartmentalized into its parts. Especially when there are considerations like mobile-first design and new processes.

I do agree with her on this one. Responsive Design is a concept. Its implementation will vary. It can be achieved in more than one way.
