A managers life revolves around interaction with others. Both top management and staff. A sandwich in the middle. Very tough job.
A manager works by receiving objectives from the top management and translating those objectives into action for the staff under them.
Interaction with people is key. Because a manager have to fulfill both the objectives and supervise action from their staff.
Time management, leadership are skills that a manager must possess to get their job done.
A manager also must know how to do their staff work. That way they can help the staff and mentor them in their work.
